About This Place

Nestled along US-287 in the heart of Toston, Montana, Bunkhouse Bar offers an inviting bar & grill experience that’s quickly making its mark as a beloved stop for travelers and locals alike. This unassuming gem crafts a comforting, rustic dining atmosphere where hearty, flavorsome food and spirited hospitality come together seamlessly.

The menu is a celebration of classic American bar fare elevated by generous portions and quality ingredients. From crispy, golden Bosco Sticks and squeaky-fresh Cheese Curds to their signature Bunkhouse Burger, paired brilliantly with indulgent chili cheese fries, every bite bursts with satisfying textures and bold flavors. The Country Fried Steak offers a nostalgic taste of home-style cooking, while the Chicken Sandwich provides a juicy, well-seasoned option that’s hard to resist. Whether you’re craving appetizers, burgers, or a comforting drink from their well-stocked bar, Bunkhouse Bar ensures your hunger is met with remarkable satisfaction.

What truly elevates the Bunkhouse experience is the genuine care and hustle of the staff. While some patrons have noted an occasional uneven start in service, many return for the friendly, attentive atmosphere cultivated by a team that clearly works hard to please guests. According to Joe Scyphers, “these people try hard to please,” and dedicated bartenders keep the energy lively, encouraging visitors to leave with appetites fully satisfied and pockets a little lighter in gratitude.

Regulars like Bishop Lorber rave about the “best burger you’ll find,” and Karen Brand praises the bustling yet welcoming vibe, enjoying outdoor seating alongside her dogs. It’s these authentic moments—whether relishing a cold beer after a long day or sharing laughs over comfort food in a packed little dive—that make Bunkhouse Bar feel like a home away from home.

For anyone driving the highway or scouting for a solid, no-frills dining experience packed with Midwest charm and mouthwatering flavors, Bunkhouse Bar in Toston stands out as a must-visit destination. Come for the food, stay for the friendly hospitality, and leave with a craving to come back.

Their food is great. The first time we went there the customer service xwas absolutely horrible some younger girl who was not very welcoming. I swear we had to wait an hour just for her to take rhe money to pay the bill. The food was good enough decided to give it another try and the man working the next time was awesome

My wife & I have been here 3 times recently and it does not disappoint. We had 3 different servers and each one was super good. Burgers, pizza and chicken fried steak are perfect. These people try hard to please. For years we drove by and didn’t stop. Now we will be back on our many trips up and down the hwy.

The bunkhouse burger hands down Best burger you'll find. Worth the drive definitely not worth passing up if you're hungry. The bartenders are always hustling so make sure you leave a good tip.

Great lunch stop. Been by here many times, but stopped to eradicate hunger and enjoyed a great burger and cold beer. Friendly staff. I'll be back.

Great little hole in the wall, place was packed , the bar lady was quick to help us. We sat outside with our dogs. Had the chicken patty melt and bunkhouse burger. Huge portions and it tasted great.

I stop by once a week and grab a soda and a bag of chips and a burger. super nice staff and yummy food. I take mine to go but only takes 15 minutes and I might sit and talk to old farmers and ranchers while I wait. try it, you'll love it.

Always been a good little place to grab some chow and a cold libation if you so desire. A little off the beaten path, but all the best places are.

This is a great little bar. The burger was excellent and a hand made patty. It was cooked to perfect and was a hearty meal. The service was a little slow but to be expected in a small tow .
